HTN + RCA Apprentice Competition Results

Newcastle Heat – April 24th, 2007

The rain did not dampen the enthusiasm or efforts of over 35 apprentice chefs at Hamilton TAFE on Tuesday, April 24th at the first heat of the 2007 HTN and Restaurant & Catering Apprentice Chef Culinary Competition.

We congratulate the following apprentices in their success as place winners:

Stage 1 Apprentices & Trainees

2nd Place James Glen Silo Restaurant & Lounge

3rd Place Tegan Morgan The Brewery Restaurant tied with
Kristine Marco Apres at the Vintage

1st Place Zac Pauling Terroir Restaurant & Wine Bar

2nd Place Mitchell Cook Shakey Tables

3rd Place Tim Schmidt Peppers Guest House

Stage 3 Apprentices

1st Place Daniel Savaige Sunnyside Tavern

2nd Place Josh Thompson Shakey Tables

3rd Place Ben Knox Terroir Restaurant & Wine Bar

The 1st Place winners each receive $350.00 from Australian Apprentices and will go on to compete in the Grand Final in Sydney on September 23rd

HTN and R&C acknowledge the tremendous support of the Dept of Education Science & Training (Australian Apprenticeships), Fraser & Hughes (The Cook Shop) together with MLA, Krio Krush, PDF Foodservices, Goodman & Fielder, Futura Training and MAS National. The co-operation and assistance of the Hamilton College of TAFE is also appreciated.

Our 2007 Apprentice Chef Culinary Competition is open to all registered hospitality trainees and apprentices in NSW, ACT or QLD. It allows apprentices to display their individual skill and capability, but more importantly, enhance personal development & improve personal standards while supporting networking growth, friendships and comradeship with fellow apprentices.
